Improving Your School One Week at a Time – Jeffrey Zoul

Jeff’s Discipline Tips

  • Never argue, never yell, and never use sarcasm.
  • Address the cause of the behavior. Display enthusiasm and a sense of humor. Interact with all students and great them in a pleasant manner. Address behavior issues in private in a positive and respectful manner.
  • Consider that some behavior problems could have been prevented if you did something different. Engaging and challenging instruction is the best deterrent to misbehavior. Students will tell you that. Don’t make discipline decisions in the heat of the moment. Avoid dead time and use assessments to determine what students know and don’t know.
