Improving Your School One Week at a Time – Jeffrey Zoul

Important Connections

  • At Jeff’s school there is an emphasis on connecting lessons to previous lessons in the same course and to subject matter in other courses. This kind of effort to connect is more likely to capture students’ interests. The other connection emphasis is on connecting with students, which can happen when they share the students’ thrill of discovery. A positive tone is important as you can’t be a top teacher without a cheerful demeanor.
  • While I have summarized many of Jeff’s Friday Focus letters, there is much I left out. Don’t forget that if you purchase the book, you can download and use any or all of the 37 letters in this book. You can change them to suit your own needs or just use them to inspire your own staff communications. And don’t forget to let other staff members take a turn to help with your communication effort.
