Who is Cathy N. Davidson?

  • Cathy holds distinguished chairs in English and Interdisciplinary Studies at Duke University where she served as vice provost for interdisciplinary studies from 1998 until 2006. She helped create Duke’s Program in Information Science and Information Studies and the Center for Cognitive Neuroscience. She codirects the HASTAC/MacArthur Digital Medial and Learning competitions and has published more than a dozen books. Cathy is also known for giving iPods to all freshmen at Duke in 2003. This experiment showed how the power of disruption illuminates unseen possibilities.
