Paying Attention: Great Communication Tips

A Multilane Highway

  • Communication is less of a two-way street than a multilane highway. Make sure the necessary parties are involved. First hand information is better than relying on someone else to report for you. You may need to bring parents and teachers together to communicate about a student. Consider involving the student for at least part of the conversation. (Dr. Doug: Don’t bring the student in until everyone is on the same page. This is what the student needs to see.)
