Resistance Tidbits

• The Internet offers resistance when it distracts you to read emails, tweets, Facebook posts, and blogs when you should be going forward with your art.
• Being a workaholic brings fear into the equation. It’s your lizard brain fooling you into thinking that as long as you are working long hours you are advancing your art.
• We all start out as artists, but disapproval by others and toxic school rules supply resistance. It’s important to get over the fear caused by discomfort and fear usually makes things go worse.
• The difference between the successful artist and the failed one happens after the idea is hatched.
• Rather than thinking outside the box, artists need to work at the edge of the box because that is where things get done and change can happen. That’s were the audience is.
