Students Want Teachers That Care

• Students want their teachers to respect them and create comfortable environments where they can feel safe asking questions. “You have yet to realize your teachers are human, but when you do, it’s shocking and quite wonderful.” Students want their teachers to be passionate and excited about the material, and the students. A common theme echoed through the engagement process was a desire for students to be genuinely understood, respected and trusted by their teachers. Asking students for their thoughts is a great first step in both showing and acting on a genuine desire to truly listen and respect their opinions.
