She is professor in the Program in Educational Administration and Policy at the University of Georgia, where she teaches instructional supervision and other courses related to professional learning and the work of a principal. She the author of a number of books and has been active in prominent educational organizations as an officer and editor. She is also active in the rollout of new teacher evaluations in the Clark County School District in Athens, Georgia.
