Why Social Media Matters: Book Summary

The Time Has Come

  • School leaders have been slow to venture into the realm of Social Media and many continue to ignore it. This is unfortunate as school leaders need to build and sustain trusting relationships with all members of their school’s community. Yet they still stick with the 20th century communications tools represented by the three-fold brochure and physical newsletter. It’s time to change and this book can help teach new tools that can offer strategic advantage in efforts to reach the community. It’s time for the community to scan the superintendent’s and principal’s blogs, the district and school Facebook pages, and to follow school leaders on Twitter.
