Supporting Career Paths

  • At the age of 11, my son discussed how he wanted to design and build video games when he gets older. My response was, “why wait?” Using various open source game design programs and the Internet, I began helping him learn what designing a game entails. Once he has control of this knowledge, he could very well design the next big game before he hits the age of 20. As long as he stays true to his own path, he can teach himself every aspect of any piece of software he needs in order to create his game. The same can be accomplished for virtually any choice the child makes. You don’t have to rely on college tuition and classrooms in order to gain knowledge in the subject material. You just need interest in the content and discipline to stay on task.
