Hacking Your Education by Dale J. Stephens

Education Hacking is Lifelong

  • The plan that Dale describes is not just designed to get someone through the four years or so that follows high school. It’s designed to last for life. I can relate to his plan as I have followed it ever since I left college. In the late 1960’s college was much more affordable. I got a BA and an MS with only $2,500 of total debt. In 2001 I finished my doctorate with no debt thanks to scholarships and incentives in my principal’s contact. To do a dissertation you need to be a self-directed learner, which is what this book is all about. I’ve lived with families in Sweden, France, England, and Quebec where I had to learn other cultures. I suggest you look for opportunities to do something like this yourself. You can start by hosting a foreign visitor. They are often available in university towns and are likely to invite you to visit them. Now purchase this book if you haven’t already and bon voyage.
