The Little Book of Talent by Daniel Coyle

Take Notes & Be Stupid

  • Many top performers keep daily journals to track performance and capture ideas and goals. If you push yourself you will make mistakes and possibly look stupid. This is essential as this is how your brain forms new connections. Use mistakes to get better. Tell people you manage that you expect mistakes and give them part of the day to follow whatever they find interesting. Google gives employees 20% of their time to do their own thing. (Doug: Why not try this with students?)
