Leading School Change: 9 Strategies to Bring Everybody on Board

The Author – The Book

  • Todd Whitaker is a professor of educational leadership at Indiana State University in Terre Haute, Indiana. He was a math teacher, basketball coach, secondary principal, and a coordinator in charge of staffing, curriculum, and technology. He is the author of 18 educational books on a wide range of teaching, discipline, and leadership topics. His wife Beth, is a professor of education at ISU.
  • If you work in a school in need of some change, and what school isn’t, you and your fellow educators can use Todd’s nine steps for guidance. They will help you identify the change, get off to a good start, determine who has to do what, reduce resistance, establish buy-in, take action, reinforce the change, and manage some of the more unruly aspects that always arise. The book might not tell you how to make your specific change, but the general advice should be a big help.
