• Effective communication is a staple of good teaching and learning. Communication is both verbal and non-verbal. What you do is often more powerful than what you say. Put the needs of your students before your desire to follow procedure. Policies worth having are designed to put students first anyway. You should have few non-negotiables and you need to communicate them early. Administration should know what they are for teachers and support them.
